i love sophie.

ross took these photos of me and sophie, and it must say, it feels like he gave me a present.
i cant stop looking at them; sophie is the apple of my eye, and i love how in every picture you can just see in my face how proud i am of her, my little darling.

here are a few polaroids that ross took on saturday, with a really really old camera we found in a junk shop and some really old polaroid film, a present from doug.

first its me riding TT, the bay mare i ride at my riding school, and then me long-lining my sweet baby sophie, with a saddle and bridle. she gets all giraffe on me with the bridle, methinks specially just for the camera. she still thinks the whole training thing is weird, and i'm pretty sure that she doesnt know that horses are ridden by humans.
pay attention, sophie, its gonna happen to you.

my beautiful little horse. she is a little horse now - we measured her the other day and she was just over 15hh. but she's not three yet, so perhaps she'll become a medium horse someday.

or, why i love vintage, part 2.

everyday i'm getting closer and closer to the day that i can start riding my sweet little sophie-horse. i'm so excited about it that i even dream about it most nights. and so, i guess its inevitable that i'm wishful thinking about what to wear, so that we can be the most dashing pair to gallop round the neighbourhood.

here are a few wishes and thoughts. bear with me.

obvious choice really to channel chanel/tautou. especially the embroidered jacket. oh and her pretty bows and ties.

betty draper's billowy old fashioned jodhpurs in the first picture. i want a pair of these real bad. good luck to me with that though. also her bow blouses and silk scarves.

she's real pretty.

the first one.

okay, so this is a new blog. but unlike my other one, this one has a definite purpose. not just mucking around. for a while i’ve wanted to start my own dress shop, because as everyone who’s ever seen me will know, i am obsessive about dresses. and i want everyone else to be too. share the love, so to speak. so the dresses i want to make are going to be the type of dresses i like, 40’s 50’s 60’s type stuff. it’s going to be called bird don’t cry. thought of that all by myself.

but.

money doesn’t grow on trees, since i recently bought a horse, its definitely been autumn in my wallet. so this might take bit longer than i wanted it to. in the meantime, while i get the ball rolling, i’ll show you some of my own pretty dresses, and also dresses that belong to other people that i wish i had. (and hopefully will make myself someday. ha ha.)

but let me remind myself why the delay: sophie brown, the prettiest little filly in the whole wide world, and why it was soooo worth it.
